Ashok Leyland is one of the major customers of Wabco-TVS for the past several years. Wabco-TVS was selected as the key supplier for developing brake system parts for the U-Truck program launched by Ashok Leyland. The new vehicle program launched by Ashok Leyland is targeted to fulfill the needs of local market which is now in a rapid development phase. The better road infrastructure has created a new set of requirements by the truck operators. The U-Truck program addresses these requirements precisely. Wabco-TVS have been working with Ashok Leyland from the concept stage till launch of the truck. The new product development model “GENMOD” conceived by Ashok Leyland is a unique concept which addresses the key deliverables at various stages of the project with supplier taken on board from the beginning. Wabco-TVS have developed special variants of valves, brake chambers and actuators for the U-Trucks.Wabco-TVS being a system solution provider jointly worked with the Product Development team at Ashok Leyland in finalizing the overall system. During the development phase both the teams worked together from selection of devices, packaging study on vehicle, prototype development and testing. Key focus was to provide a cost effective solution meeting the time targets from samples to SOP. The products were also revalidated in U-Trucks before introduction and release.
The project has fetched a new set of experience and learning to Wabco-TVS on project management, market understanding and project execution. To summarize, this project will stand as a testimony for the customer-supplier partnership once again supported by the strong relationship and mutual trust.
